2018. Two thousand and eighteen. Twenty eighteen. No matter how it’s written or how it’s pronounced it is one in the same. It is the beginning of newness. While many see everyday as a new beginning, it is the top of a new year that screams fresh start. So what does the New Year mean to you? What have you decided to leave behind in 2017? Have you decided to start a business? Are you going to lose those stubborn 10 pounds that you keep picking up? Do you want to become more organized? Spend more time with family? Get that degree or certification? What goals have you set for this brand spanking New Year?

Whatever you decide, it all started with an idea. A dream. A vision. A thought. A concept formulated in your mind to improve your life in some form or fashion. If you have developed a goal in your head, you have already started the process. It is the thought that begins your journey. Allow that thought to cultivate and shape how you envision your future, and don’t stop until you are living what you have envisioned.

2018 is the beginning of anything you want. It is the beginning of everything you want. Make sure you spend this year not thinking about regrets of times past. But looking ahead and taking ahold of life. Life only happens to us if we let it. I’ve been reading The Alchemist and in the book a young boy asked what is the world’s greatest lie. He was given this answer, “It's this: that at a certain point in our lives, we lose control of what’s happening to us, and our lives become controlled by fate. That’s the world’s greatest lie.” In the year of 2018, refuse to be lied to. Control your life. Set goals. Embrace failure. Stay prayerful. Keep pushing forward.
